Ok so I have fitted my new radio but the unit is not remembering the time of radio stations.

I am assuming that the wire for this is not cinnected through the ISO connector.

There are two 'spare' wires comming out of the back, pink and brown. Is it one of these?

How do I tell which is which and what to connect tham to?

I'll have a look when i get home, there is a yellow and black pair with a fuse/filter box attatched. Maybe these are the switchable but i need to swap them for the perm live.  Looking on another thread I read that is is quite common for these 2 to be the wrong way round.

There is also some interference occasionaly that is hear on the radio although the reception is good.  It sounds as a regular bit of brown noise which sometines speeds up then goes away.

Do what i did with mine...

Cut the red and the yellow wires from the plug from the stereo, and join them together and connect both to the red wire(constant live)from the car..do the same with the earth from the stereo(usually black) and connect to the brown from the car.
The black wire from the car(switched live) cut that and taped it out the road.

If you cut them, make sure you leave enough wire on each side so that it can be join back together at the plugs if need be at a later time,

Use the plugs for speakers as normal...worked a treat on mine Grin

Exactly what I did, but I'm not sure if that's why my battery goes flat after a couple of days.......

Shouldn't Pedro.....

The way i did it,your only using the constant live......even plugged in correctly it would still be used.....so by using only the red constant and making the switched black redundant your not changing any output from the car's loom

Make sure you didn't connect the red and the black from the car together? that would give you a constant ignition, even with the key out...that would drain the battery after a couple of days...Huh i know you probably didn't but you know what i mean Grin

mine does this too.  I connected ISO from stereo to ISO in car.  There is a yellow lead comming out of the back if the stereo which doesnt seem to be part of the ISO connector.  Do i just splice this in with the red live wire?

In the cars loom you have a thick brown wire which is your earth,The red wire is from your battery and the black one is your switched power from the ignition.

The brown wire you have is for the TEL mute and the pink one should be a power control  for either an aerial motor or amp.most stereos now have a blue and white rather as a pink.

when you plug in your ISO connector the yellow wire is supposed to go to the battery and the red one is supposed to go to the ignition,So if you check that the red one goes to the black wire and the yellow one goes to the red one.that should sort it out for you.If you take the cover of the back of the plug in the cars loom you'll see the wires and where they go.

Ive just had the stereo out of mine... And somthing odd ive found is that the radio doesnt work with the ignition off like most cars?    I.e in other cars you can drive with it on, Then when you turn the ignition off it goes off,  But press the power button and itll come back on...

That doesnt bother me as such...  But what does ,  Is id like to be able to listen to it without having the ignition on,  I.e first click on the key?

Not sure if thats possible tho... Any ideas?   So id be able to listen to it without the engine running

Sorted it now.   But the problem is its a modern JVC cd headunit.  So if its on all the time, So is the standby light.   Which drains bloomin quick.   Its not just a lil clock for the memory like most headunits  Cheesy

Na i like my headunit.   Bar the not being able to use it off the ignition its spot on.   Its got DAB input,  2 sets of outputs, usb port in the front...   Does what i want  Grin

I had a kenwood mask that i regret selling with my van.    But it didnt realy impress me greatly.   And my love of sony has worn off since they introduced that warning beeper.   I have the joy of that when driving the misses saxo.. Cheesy

yo , ive not read the whole post but in my experience , join the red and yellow together then they go to perminant live - easy enought to find .  also if i remember its the orange wire on most headunits thats the memory so if that goes to perm live too :-)

haha  tad annoying.   I pulled over while driving the other day to talk on the phone to someone about my dads car.    Then that bloody beeping started and the old boy on the other end of the phone thought his phone was playing up and hung up.   Then called again as i started driving  Grin

You should not join the red and yellow together (that will connect the switched and permanent live together (will work but wont half drain your battery)
You should cut them and connect red from radio to yellow on loom and vice versa
