It's not difficult, no special tools, just unbolt and remove old uns and replace with the new uns.

Get the torque settings right, make sure the car is on stands (safety point) and replace any bent bolts (had to on mine!).

Good idea to use fresh locking nuts, as once used, the don't lock too well a second time, but spring washers can be used if there's enough thread.

You'll need a ball-joint splitter and a dictionary of swear words. Some claim to have done this job in a couple of hours. I don't know how they managed it. It will depend very much on how rusted-in the nuts and bolts are. If they come out easily, then the job's not too bad. Make sure you have both front wheels free to move and undo both sides of the anti-roll bar. If you have the Haynes manual that will help. I'd advise you to get a complete set of replacement nuts and bolts and you might as well replace the drop-links whilst you're at it, that is if they haven't been done previously.

I did this job today. Took me 1 hour to do the drivers side and 3 hours to do the passenger side. Be ready with and angle grinder, wire brush and a blow torch.

Heres  a few pic

Took me about two hours to do both, and didn't need a ball joint splitter! Shocked

I did,m however, spray a fair bit of "StartYerBastard" (WD40 over here) on the nuts etc the night before, so it had time to soak in pretty well. Wink

Anyhoo, anyone heard form Mr. Bear lately?

Seems to be M.I.A.

Neither did I. Used a grinder instead.

hello there, been a while since i have posted on here, have been watching posts, just havent logged on. I have been really busy with starting at sixth form after getting ones gcses, chem and physics are a nightmare haha

due to my lack of time i have had no time for the carlys, (shame on me)

and the green one which this post is about, has become very poorly indeed, so time for the tools to be dusted down again, unfortunately, its leaking water, and i suspect its the head gasket, but i cant take the car off the road due to my uncles alfa also bust its head, and consequently, has a nacked W Pump.

we were bidding on a mint dippy, rembrant silver, and we were prepared to pay over a grand for it becasue it was truely a minter, however we lost it but 20 quid.

as for my carly i have been doin a little here and there, head its ready to go bak on, however i want the car welded up before i put the engine in.

thanks for bringing this post back up oil burner.

i will be posting more often now again Smiley

Cheers lads
