My Main Car, recently passed MOT Smiley

Wife's current main car, was my main car, but she has taken it over for a while, maybe buy her something better in the new year

My Weekend toy.  Been in the garage for 14 months.  Garage f++cked he up, didnt complete the work.  About to get the car removed from rubbish garage that messed it up and taken to another better garage.  Solicitors and Trading standards all involved now. Sad  Hopefully back on the road in about March Smiley

Wife's other car.  No MOT, cant be arsed to sort it at the moment as Carlton was the priority.  Probally going to sell as wife happy to use skoda as this one drinks fuel.

Hi, this is my latest project, a GSI 24v. I bought it without an engine....... These pics are a week of so old and I've done quite a bit to it already. (polish, new indicators, side repeters, removed phone aerial, new tyres, new plates) spec so far is: Scorpion exhaust, chipped, k&n panel filter, bilstein suspension kit, groved and drilled disks, lotus kit, azev 10x17 rear and 8.5x17 front. I've still got the old engine in pieces where the bloke before me snapped the timing chain, so want to rebuild it and do something funny with it! (twin turbo?) will be a while though as I've got my first kid on the way.

Some people will hopefully recognise my 1992 Carlton GSi 3000 24v as the white-un thats pictured between the two red Carltons pictured at the first ever TC meet at Tamworth which most people see everytime they log onto this forum at the top of the page....

For obvious reasons, my car has been known as Sky for the past eight years that i have owned this vehicle. This GSi is also my everyday transport....

And after being abused, neglected and living outdoors since i've owned her....she was really starting to look her age. So towards the end of 2008, it was time to start a mini restoration on the old girl! Grin Grin Grin

It was during this time that an old idea popped into my head again. If you were going ahead with cutting out all of the rust to make your Carlton good again.....would you keep it 100% standard and original looking afterwards or would you do something different that could possibly make it stand out from the crowd?? Below is a picture of what fired up my imagination....

For those who have never seen this image before....Its a promotional pic of what Opel and Irmscher was going to use in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft) during the 1990 race season against BMW, Mercedes and Audi. The DTM is basically the German version of the BTCC here in the UK! Wink

During that same year....Opel (Who invented the Ring Taxi in 1986 with an orange wide-arched 3.0i 12v Mattig kitted Opel Manta in a Jägermeister livery)......

replaced this old Manta with a more modern Opel Omega 3000 (pictured above) which sported a similar livery as the Works teams touring cars! Cool Cool Cool

And a cross between these two similar looking road car & race cars is what inspired me to do this....

Now it was too late to go back....This happened next!

But then there was an outcry because the 15inch wheels were too small....So,

The old 17's were returned to my vehicle....

And that is all....for now anyways! Wink

My Carlton Hearse:

What it used to look like:

The insides:

The Decking removed and starting work cutting out the frame:

From the outside it looks like Limo tint on the windows but its amazing what you can do with a tin of black emullsion and a brush on the inside of the windows Wink

And just for a laugh I added a "dead mickey mouse skull" to the bonnet:

the rest of the pics can be viewed here: http://s735.photobucket.com/albums/ww357/vauxhall_eagle_quest/?start=all
