hi all,

I've only just discovered this site, and am loving it already!  My Dip just went from being a headache to a perfectly working car thanks to all the input found here  Grin Grin Grin

This is my 5th Carly - I started with a  '89 2.0 GL, followed by a  '90 2.0 CDX, then my first Dip (crashed a few months later woops Roll Eyes ), then a '94 2.0GLi (which inherited all the good stuff from the crashed Dip) and now that the GLi has too many things wrong to ever go thru another MOT, I just got a '92 2.0 Auto Dip in glorious black.

I still have the 2.0 GLi for spares, already scavenged bits for the new Dip, but still have many things if anyone's interested.  For example I have a full set of gray leather seats (rear are perfect front show some wear), all the door panels (in gray) with fake walnut strip and the fake walnut auto centre console bit.  I also have a good set of 4 Dip alloys with 3/4 worn Michelins.  Pimp up yer ride!   Cheesy
It's also got an excellent 2.0 8v motor - 130k, head gasket/timing belt/water pump were done by myself at 107k.  The auto gearbox is also ok, although it shows signs of trouble - if u go into gear too quickly after starting the engine it goes into emergency mode.  Just have to wait for the gearbox light on dashboard to go out first then it's fine.

I'm in Hertforshire near Watford and St Albans.

cheerz

Welcome to the site matey.
When you start these cars, switch on and wait for all the check lights to go out before you actually start the car. The various systems need a little bit of time to set themselves up.
Also, give the gearbox ecu plug a spray with contact cleaner. It worked for me  Smiley

Hi, I have had my 1988 Black starmist 3.0 GSi for a few years now, bought it as a runabout to save my other classic cars from daily use. But have fallen in love with it, worry about it just as much as the others. Its in pretty good nick, but has just started to get the rot in the rear wheelarch, where they all go I am told. I live near Milton Keynes.
