WHAT KEEPS ME GOIN: The thought of getting through school and getting a job to buy a old Carlton to mess with
Hey Harry, welcome aboard!! Don't think you need to be particularly succesful, (financially anyway!!), to own a Carlton, (well, with the possible exception of a Lotus!), but a worthwhile goal nonetheless!! You could probably buy one now for about £20 off E-Bay!! Frankly can't see past Carltons and Senators myself!! (Nor I'm sure can any of these guys!!!)

WHAT?? Youmean there's "OTHER" cars?? Yes there's Omegas too, but seeing as they're basically the same under the skin I didn't see the point in being pedantic and risk upsetting anyone, but there you go, you wouldn't let it lie would you?!?!?!

Rod ive already been through the is it a mk4 carlton bit and the out come was yes it is.But not as good mechanically as the mk3, however now i have gone back/forward with my purple monster i must admit that with a carlton gsi lump the meega would possibly be a better motor all round (bit better balanced)

Don't know about the 'not as good mechanically' bit. I think all round the Omega is a better car at the moment, but it's just not worth the money IMO. I mean my last Senator cost me £450 to buy, now ok I spent a good couple of grand on her before her untimely demise, but that makes a grand total of £2500 for a very respectable, (and fast), luxo-barge. My Omega cost me £12k and while in most respects I think it's a better car, it's not five times better if you get my drift. Now I appreciate that Omegas have achilles heel(s), i.e. things like oil coolers expensive servicing and slightly willful electrics, but Senators and Carltons were the same, until people learned to live with them 'cos they got so cheap!! And the 24v chain issue was a biggy and I've replaced a couple of sets of chains, I expect the mega will go the same way when people get used to maintaining them tereselves. I'm also not with you on the balance thing. the V6 in my estate is shoved right back as far as it can go behind the front wheel axis, and I think it's exceptionally well balanced. All IMHO.

All IMHO. i have a poster on my workshop wall which shows my prevoiuos cav v6 engine on the engine stand with the timing belt in the typical v6 conditon(aka mullard) the text reads, presenting the vauxhall v6 engine, perfect when working expensive when not, every custermer who has walked in has laughed at it maybe i should chage it to a show a mega v6 dis pack, end of the day all cars have pros and con`s,i just hink omegas are yuk, hence why i drive a carlton
