Chassis rails of doom!

Hi all, as you know the barge is undergoing some major tlc, including welding of the chassis rails



we have found that the top section of the chassis rail on this side is completely rotten from front to back

Anyone know if you can get this section as a replacement panel?  Tried Hadrians but no luck, otherwise it looks like a few long nights fabricating repair sections (any tips?)

luckily the sides and lower section is solid, otherwise It may been the end

bit of 12 gauge - large hammer - vice and loads of banging.

Do it in sections and overlap the joins.

Make sure you cut out all the rust first otherwise it will start all over again.

Cheers guys looks like that's the only option, i notice that there's drain holes on the top section, do I need to put these into the new sections?  I'm not after originality just want a nice solid car

Yes LB, these parts were available to buy from Vauxhall....

Bet they cost an arm and a leg even if they were still available

Would it not be easier to cut and shape a piece of box section? It's what I usually do when making new chassis rails, for the bends just cut 3 sides with a angle grinder and bend then weld.

would you believe that i had a complete chassis rail for a Carlton until recently.....?  Sadly, i sold it a while back.  Can't remember what side it was, nearside i think!
