Just a heads up for those of you in the south east i have decided to hang up my welding mask indefinately due to having found a decent dedicated and very reasonable chap to do it for me.
He will do just about every common area cut out and new metal filleted in including inner sill box sections chassis rails (front and rear), arches with guards/ fillets to prevent dirt and salt ingress, bulkhead/grommet areas etc etc.
That whole lot in an official body shop would cost a fortune! (Flash was quoted £1800 for sills and one chassis rail on his geezer at such an establishment)
We can have all the above done for around £700-£800 plus panels (sills are £14 a side) so for less than a grand you CAN have a carlton (or anything else for that matter) that has less rust than when it was new!!! lol

The chap in question is undertaking a job for one of our members as we speak so there will be pics following shortly.

ahhhh grrrrrr ... welding!!!!    it seems that chassis and sills were an optional extra on the gsi's lol  - just spent 700 pounds (mates rates ) having both outer sills fitted, large patch on offside rear floor pan and masses of repair work on the rear chassis - completely gone.    had a quote of 800 just for the sills and a small patch on the rear ofside chassis leg which i turned down , got a friends garage to do it for me and it kept getting worse and worse, rear legs were cracked and mullered from previous repairs. they had it for a week!  now i finally have her back and can get her mot's wednesday  :-)

Get plenty of Waxoyl or anything similar into those cavities or itll all need doing again in two years.
Loads of cavity wax will make it last for a very long time as it sounds like they did a good job

I got n/s/f chassis leg, o/s/r floor pan and the rear ends of both sills done for around £400, sounds like I got a good deal hearing the above.
